Winter Tracking & Wildlife Program

Cedar WaxwingSaturday, February 6, 2010: Join us for our third annual winter wildlife tracking program, this year followed by a live animal presentation.  This fun and educational program will be led in partnership with Mass Audubon and Brush Art Gallery.  Come out and see for yourself how abundant wildlife is in Lowell, especially along the Concord River Greenway (CRG).  First you will learn about the "art of tracking" along the CRG.  Later on at the Brush Art Gallery you will have the chance to see wildlife, such as an American kestrel and a spotted turtle, "upclose and personal" and learn about the challenges they face when it comes to survival in the wild.  All ages welcome.

We invite you to join us for one or both activities of this two-part event on February 6th (two separate activities):

Winter (Wildlife) Tracking - 8:00am to 10:00am -Meet just inside the entrance to Lowell Cemetery, off Lawrence Street in Lowell (across from 1025 Lawrence St). Directions  Off-street parking available.

Wildlife Program and Demonstration - 11:00am-12:30pm - Brush Gallery & Artists Studios, 256 Market Street in Lowell.  Directions  Street parking and nearby parking garages available.

To RSVP, please Contact Us or call (978)934-0030 x3.

Maple Sugaring: From Sap to Syrup
Maple SugaringSaturday, February 27, 2010: Come on down to Rogers Fort Hill Park and learn how to tap historic sugar maple trees and make syrup.  This will be our third annual maple sugaring event led in partnership with Mass Audubon and the Friends of Rogers Fort Hill Park.  This is a fun and educational way to connect with the land in Lowell, while learning about the historic process of turning sap to syrup and sugar. It's also a "sweet" way to put your tastebuds to the test to see if you can tell the difference between regular syrup and the real thing!  All ages welcome.

Time and Location: 10:00am-12:00pm - Rogers Fort Hill Park, Rogers Ave, Lowell.  Directions  Street parking available on site.

To RSVP, please Contact Us or call (978)934-0030 x3.
