Calling all restaurants, chefs, cooks and foodies! Submit your favorite recipe for consideration in "Lowell Cooks!", the City's new community cookbook set for release in the Spring of 2012. Submission Deadline: Monday, October 10th.
 

Fall Cooking Classes and More at La Boniche

Cooking classses are back, with two new topics:

  • Soups 101, October 2nd: Learn the techniques and recipes used to create our signature soups.
  • Sauces 101, October 23rd: Learn the techniques and recipes used to create our delicious sauces and vinaigrettes.

Action Evolution Exhibit at the Loading Dock Gallery

Action-art fans will be delighted to learn that Action Evolution, a new installment in David Leblanc's "Action Abstraction" series, will be on view at the Loading Dock Gallery from August 31st to September 25th. The series captures the excitement and
energy of the covers of classic Superman adventures in Action Comics publications, but is more than just an homage to a unique American art form. Artists Reception: Friday, September 16th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Click here to learn more about the exhibit and artist.

 

2 New Exhibits at Textile Museum (www.athm.org) 

"Glamour and Grace: 1930s Fashion"

On view now through October 16th

In the 1930s, graceful cuts and glamorous fabrics replaced the boxy, boyish styles of the 1920s. This exhibit showcases dresses and accessories emerging from this extraordinary decade. 

 

"Marking Time: Voyage to Vietnam"

On view now through September 25th

This exhibit presents the poignant and dramatic stories - told through graffiti left on a troopship's bunk canvases - of young American soldiers headed to Vietnam during the 1960s.
