Larson / Bat-Shimon Duo:
Saturday November 13 8pm, donations appreciated

Forrest Larson - analog electronics
Yael Bat-Shimon - violin

The duo explores ideas of resonance and difference in their distinct respective sound sources. A fundamental inspiration for of Forrest Larson's music comes from listening to and collecting "found sounds" from both natural as well as urban landscapes.   The other-worldly sounds of old pre-digital analog electronic instruments and unusual noises found on the shortwave radio spectrum also of are of deep interest as well. Yael Bat-Shimon, described by The Boston Globe as an adventurous contemporary violinist whose improvisational work draws on her classical training as well as non-Western musical traditions, has performed for audiences from Paris, France to Cambridge, MA.
Tim Feeney + Skinny EMU + Loup-Garou
Sunday November 14 6pm, donations welcome.

Tim Feeney

Tim Feeney - percussion
+
Skinny EMU:
Joshua Jefferson - sax
Andrew Eisenberg - percussion
Joe Burgio, Paul Kafka-Gibbons - movement, voice
+
Loup-Garou:
Setheyny Pen - drums, toy pianos
Walter Wright - electronics

Tim Feeney seeks to explore and examine the timbral possibilities inherent in everyday found and built objects. He treats his percussion setup as a friction instrument, using bows, scrapers, and rosined drumheads to capture and amplify frequencies that go unheard when an object is struck with a traditional mallet. He supplements this acoustic console with an electronic instrument, arranged from mixers, contact microphones, and effects pedals, that synthesizes and alters the spectral characteristics of low-fidelity tones, feedback, and noise.
