Artwalk Lowell 2010, June 26 - July 31

View and vote for your favorite downtown Lowell storefront during ArtWalk Lowell 2010, a collection of window art displays created by 17 Greater Lowell artists. Each artist has created a vignette of their finest work and are eager to hear what you think! ArtWalk Lowell is presented by the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce, the Arts League of Lowell (ALL), the City of Lowell, and the Cultural Organization of Lowell (COOL).

Bela Lugosi's "Dracula," June 26

The Joy of Abstraction, June 14 - 30

"Preserve," June 17 - August 13

"Preserve" is an exhibition of new and recent work by Taleen Batalian, Anne Cavanaugh and Tracy Spadafora at Arlington's 13Forest Gallery. Focusing on nature, the exhibition presents three different approaches to defining and interpreting the world through one of the oldest of all art forms - wax-based encaustic.

"A Conversation with Irish Micky Ward," June 25

Screenwriter Richie Farrell will conduct a one-on-one interview with Lowell boxing legend Micky Ward and discuss his storied past. Afterwards Farrell will direct a Q&A session with the audience. Ward will be available for autographs at the conclusion of the program. The event will take place at The Collins Center for Performing Arts at Andover High School.

Paste-up 2010, June 26 - July 18

As an art form, collage is all about thinking outside of the box. So be prepared to be intrigued, amazed, and maybe even puzzled by this juried show of small format collage works.The dictionary defines paste-up as a composition of "flat objects pasted to a sheet or other backing". Lowell National Historical Park summer hours

Lowell National Historical Park canal boat tours move to daily operation rolling into the full summer season. Beginning June 27 - Aug. 23 the schedule expands tours to seven days a week. Reservations are required for all tours and can be made by calling 978-970-5000.

The cast of "Deadliest Catch" live, September 11

ALL website design contest winner

The ALL Board has reviewed the entries for the contest to design a new look for the ALL website. Laurie Simko's submission was chosen for having the best overall "look and feel". She will be awarded a $300 cash prize and a turkey. Congratulations to Laurie for her winning design! Work on the new website is underway.

Call to Artists

The 119 Gallery announces a call for entries for their 2010 Members' Exhibit, July 13-31. Showcasing their own outstanding community of artists, the exhibit will be on view during the Lowell Folk Festival, July 23-25.
