Art Quilts at the Brush Gallery, opens Aug. 10
Sophisticated art and handmade tradition fuse seamlessly as art quilters from across the United States showcase their work at The Brush Gallery & Artists Studios, Aug. 10-Sept. 11. The exhibition is free to the public and will showcase delicate art quilting techniques.

Lowell Quilt Festival, Aug. 12-14

Experience one of the country's foremost celebrations of the art and craft of quilting! "IMAGES", the centerpiece of the Festival, is moving to the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. This judged and juried exhibit will feature hundreds of entrants from around the country and around the world.

Lowell National Historical Park is waiving museum fees at the Boott Cotton Mills Museum August The Boott Cotton Mills Museum is open daily from 9:30am to 5pm at 115 John Street. Visitors are encouraged to begin their visit to the Park at the Visitor Center, 246 Market Street.

Deadline: Mon., Aug. 23, 2010 (materials received)
Trinity Financial invites artists/designers/teams to forward qualifications for an artwork to be permanently installed in the four-story atrium of the Appleton Mills redevelopment, a historic textile mill located at 219 Jackson St. in downtown Lowell. Work to be commissioned could be a freestanding, wall-mounted or suspended piece. Project is open to all artists/ designers/ teams residing in New England, including collaborations with writers or sound artists/musicians. Budget: $15,000. Five to ten finalists will receive a $500 honorarium to develop a proposal for public exhibition at the 10th Annual Open Studios in Lowell on Sept. 25 and 26, 2010.
